Setting Up Mail Rules
Microsoft Outlook Express
From the menubar, select Tools, then "Message Rules", and click on "Mail".
The the "New Mail Rule" box should appear. If not, click on the "New" button.
In Upper box (Number 1), check the box with the phrase "Where the subject line contains specific words".
In the lower box, click on the underlined phrase "specific words".
The "Type Specific words" dialog box will appear. Type:
(SPAM)
in the "Type specific words" box.
Click "Add", then Click "OK".
In the center box (Number 2), check the item that says "move it to the specified folder".
In the lower box (Number 3), click on the word "specified" in the phrase, "move it to the specified folder".
The "Move" box will appear. Click "New"
The "New Folder" dialog will appear. Type:
spam
in the box (you could also use junk, or junkmail, or any other name for this folder).
Once you've named the new folder, click "OK".
At this point, you'll see a list of mail folders, where the one you just created is highlighted. Click "OK"
You're now back to the main New Mail Rule dialog. The rule description should now read
Apply this rule after the message arrives
with
(SPAM)
in the subject
move it to the
spam
folder
If you wish you can change the name of the rule. The name is in the lower box.
Click "OK"
Click OK to close the Message Rules box
Your mail rule setup is complete.
